Our pedestrianised space on Park Street is up and running with all the different elements of the concept coming together over the last week. Come down and check it out Monday – Saturday between 9am and 4:30pm (weather permitting).
We have a giant games space (above) basketball hoops and skate furniture as well as more greenery. This Saturday from 10-11am we’ll have a free “Stakeboarding 101” workshop run by Kane Harris. He’ll be getting into the basics – essential tips, techniques and safety checks, so a great place for beginners. All ages welcome.
If skateboarding is not your thing, we also have free face painting for the kids, so come on over and have some fun – play one of our many games!
You may have also heard about the Masterton Summer Night Markets. The first market will be next Friday, 18th Jan 4-8pm. There will be food stalls, music and of course all the Play on Park activities. Head over to the Facebook event page to register your interest and let your friends know you’ll be there.
The Play on Park concept is a temporary initiative to test some “placemaking” ideas – essentially what people in our community want to see happening in the town centre. It comes off the back of the Town Centre Strategy that was adopted by Council in 2018. You can read more about that here.
